Q1. What voice quality can I expect?
Answer: Wozacom's equipment and partner networks use the G.729AB voice CODEC, which
provides optimum voice quality across an IP network. Wozacom to fixed-line calls
will be as good as a standard Telkom line.
Q2. Do I still make calls through my PC?
Answer: No! A Wozacom SIP phone does not work like a Skype phone. Your Wozacom SIP
phone plugs directly into the LAN port of your broadband modem/router. Your PC or
laptop then plugs directly into your Wozacom SIP phone which has its own built-in
router – this allows you to make and receive telephone calls just like a standard
Telkom phone. You can choose to either switch your PC off and still make telephone
calls or surf the internet and make telephone calls simultaneously.
Q3. Does my broadband connection have to be active
to make and receive calls?
Answer: Yes! If you need your Wozacom phone to work like a standard Telkom phone
then you must keep your broadband connection active at all times.
Q4. How does Wozacom rates compare to Telkom's existing
rates?
Answer: It depends on call patterns because of the minimum charges and billing methodology.
Roughly speaking on outbound calls the savings are as follows:
- Telkom Local Calls - 30%
- Telkom National Calls - 33%
- Telkom Cellular calls - 22%
- Telkom International Calls - 60%
